REQUIRED and RECOMMENDED TEAM DOCUMENTS

  • Team Roster printed from your TIMS Team Summary page.  FIRST is now requiring that team members register online on the Student Team Member Information System (STIMS) and have their parents complete the consent/release form, which is what fills in your team roster.  Some teams have already done that for the Qualifying Tournaments. If you have not, please refer to the STIMS Instructions for Coaches, which explains the steps in doing so.  You basically "invite" your members to join the team via email (from your Team Summary page on TIMS), parents create an account and fill out the appropriate information, and you accept each team member.  Your roster will then show all of your team members and whether they have completed their online consent/release forms.  If any of your team members do not complete the registration and consent form online, they MUST provide a paper copy of the Youth Team Member Paperwork, which includes registration information and a signed consent form.
  • Team Information Sheet (also known as Team Introduction or Team Profile sheet).  Bring 4 copies - one for registration and one for each of the judging sessions (robot design, project, and core values).  The Team Information Sheet serves multiple purposes.  It is a way for teams to convey important information about their team that they may not have an opportunity (or forget) to mention in the very limited-time judging sessions.  And since judges usually see 8 - 15 teams depending upon the size of the event, after reviewing all of those teams, the Team Information Sheet helps the judges keep everyone straight.
  • Core Values POSTER - must present in your judging session. It provides valuable information to assist in the Core Values judging process.  You must provide this to be eligible for the Core Values award.  The poster requirement is new this year and replaces the Core Values report that has been required in the past.

  • Robot Design Executive Summary (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, BUT NOT REQUIRED) This is NOT a document that is turned into the Robot Design judges but is intended to help your team consider in advance the most important information to share with the judges.

This summary is based on the judging rubrics and helps a team gather their thoughts and organize their (informal) presentation as they prepare for the Robot Design judging session.  Because the team has less than 10 minutes (in the 15 minute judging session) to tell the judges about their robot, strategy and programming, the intent of the summary is to help the team focus on what is important to convey.

WHAT TO BRING TO AN EVENT

  • Signed Consent and Release forms (REQUIRED).  It may be documented on the "Team Roster" printed from your Team Summary page.  If not, a paper copy must be presented.
  • Team introduction page (REQUIRED)
  • Core Values Poster (REQUIRED)
  • Robot Design Executive Summary (recommended, but not required)
  • Robot and attachments
  • Parts kit (extra parts for repairs/adjustments)
  • Print out of mission programs and robot design executive summary
  • Materials, props, and equipment needed for Project presentation
  • Laptop computer with batteries and/or AC adaptor, extra batteries, extension cords
  • Team scrapbook
  • Team banner, posters, or other decorations for pit space
  • Storage box for personal items
  • USB cable
  • Fun, inexpensive items to share with other teams (pins, hats, personalized team playing cards). This practice is a fun way for teams to get to know each other.  Handmade items that reflect your team or organization (school, troop, etc.) are also great.
