2016 Summer Robotics Camps. . .

There are some exciting opportunities for SUMMER ROBOTICS CAMPS for teachers and students!  Shown below are the ones in New Orleans that we know about.  If you are aware of camps in Louisiana that use LEGO NXT or EV3 robots, please let us know and we would be happy to post it on our LaFLL website.

Core Element Inc. is again offering a free 2-day FIRST LEGO League professional development workshop for teachers (non-teacher coaches welcome) in New Orleans on July 6th - 7th, which provides a hands-on introduction to the LEGO EV3 robot with an emphasis on programming the robot.

In addition to the two-day FLL robotics adult-only session, Core Element is also offering the following one-week camps where both teachers and students are the campers, getting more in-depth training on building and programming skills.  It is free for teachers; there is a $350 fee for students (with scholarships available).

  • Jr. STEM Camp – WeDo Robotics (used by FLL Jr. teams), LittleBits and MakeyMakey (focused on electronics), July 11-15, 2016, Ages 7-9
  • Introduction to Robotics (focused on using the EV3 with an end-of-week camp competition), July 18-22, 2016, Ages 10-13
  • Advanced Robotics (for anyone who has been on an FLL team or attended a prior EV3 camp), July 25-29, 2016, Ages 10-13

Depending upon availability of funding, any teacher/coach attending a camp who starts a new FLL team at their school and has the principal sign off that they will support registration for the team will receive a robot.  Note that there is a refundable $25 registration fee for teachers to reserve a spot.  Registration for Teacher Professional Development is (https://cesummerinstitute2016.eventbrite.com ) and Registration for Camps is … Teacher Registration (https://ce2016stemcampsforteachers.eventbrite.com ), Student Registration (https://cestemcamps2016.eventbrite.com).  More information about Core Element and their summer offerings can be found at http://core4kids.org/ .  Please share the camp info with your students.  And check out the rest of the PD offered by Core Element, which may be of interest to you.  All of it is free to teachers!
